One of the most significant challenges we face is persistent power outages. Electricity shortages in rural India stem from unreliable distribution, infrastructure gaps, and technical issues. These frequent and unpredictable outages disrupt ongoing work at LIO. It is disheartening to see program participants walk long distances to the site in anticipation, only to leave abruptly when an outage cuts sessions short.

Our immediate goal is to procure and install solar-powered battery backup at 16 sites. Each unit costs $1,200.
